U14 & U16 Boys Barcelona Trip!

Barcelona 2026 was an unforgettable experience for our U14 and U16 teams as they travelled to compete in one of the biggest international basketball tournaments in the world, the Euro Youth Basketball Cup. The tournament provided an incredible opportunity for our players to test themselves against elite competition while representing our program on an international stage.

Beyond the basketball, the trip offered so much more. Our athletes had the chance to meet players from across the globe, form new friendships, and immerse themselves in different cultures. Experiencing the unique styles of play and traditions of teams from various countries broadened their understanding of the game and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

The U16 team faced a challenging start to the tournament but showed tremendous resilience and determination throughout the week. They continued to improve with every game, finding their rhythm and building momentum as the tournament progressed. Their perseverance paid off, finishing with a respectable 2-2 record and demonstrating the character and growth that define the team.

The U14 squad enjoyed an outstanding tournament run, finishing the group stages with a perfect 4-0 record. Their impressive performances earned them a place in the championship game, where they faced a very strong American side. Despite falling just short in the final, the team displayed exceptional skill, teamwork, and competitiveness throughout the event. They proudly returned home with the second-place trophy, a remarkable achievement on such a prestigious international stage. Adding to the celebrations, our own Noel Acheampong was honoured with the tournament’s “Best Teammate” award, a testament to his leadership, selflessness, and positive impact both on and off the court.

The tournament concluded with a spectacular closing ceremony that truly highlighted the global nature of the event. It was surreal to see athletes, coaches, and families from so many different countries gathered together in one room, surrounded by a mix of languages, cultures, and traditions. It was a powerful reminder of how sport can bring people together regardless of background or nationality.

The closing celebrations also provided an opportunity to recognise the tremendous effort, dedication, and planning that went into organising such a successful and well-run tournament. Every detail contributed to creating an outstanding experience for all participants and ensured that the event was memorable for everyone involved.

Most importantly, our players thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the trip. From competing on the court to exploring a new country, building friendships, and creating lifelong memories, Barcelona 2026 was an experience they will never forget. It was a long weekend filled with growth, achievement, and inspiration, one that will be remembered by our athletes, coaches, and families for years to come.
