London born Antonio Deogratias has been an LDM ambassador since mid 2020, after being impressed with our commitment to providing opportunities for young people across the spectrum. Growing up under difficult conditions, in a community where gang violence had stifled the opportunities of many of his peers, Antonio chose to go down the basketball route, enrolling onto the nationally recognised Oaklands Basketball Academy in St Albans to pursue his basketball ambitions. Following this, he received multiple offers to pursue a college career in the USA, with family finances finally dictating his decision to stay in England for his education and basketball progression. He went on to become a scholar at Leeds Beckett and Northumbria University basketball programmes, eventually getting his first opportunity at professional basketball with the Leeds Force BBL team. After showcasing a great domestic pedigree which included representing Great Britain in the U23 Basketball World Cup, Antonio now plays as professional in the Spanish leagues.

We are pleased to have Antonio as an ambassador as he continues to show his determination to be a role model for younger players growing up in similar circumstances to himself.

Basketball has changed my life tremendously, it has opened doors for me in education and personal development. It has allowed me to go to my former high school and my family to show them I can be a role model for the younger generation. My best advise to a younger version of me looking to make it professional; Love the game, and be the best learner you can be.
