Ali, 20, VOLUNTEER
Ali first joined us as a placement as part of his level 3 sports course with Leeds City College. He has worked hard and developed a better understanding of basketball, supporting coaching sessions and helping with the administrative side of the organisation. We are pleased to welcome him as an official volunteer, he begins his journey by completing his level 1 and level 2 table official course ready for the 22/23 season. A keen footballer, Ali plays for disability football club, Danby Rovers and has expressed a desire to support in providing more opportunities for young people living with disabilities during his time with LDM.
What Ali says:
‘Volunteering with LDM has been amazing, it’s been a remarkable journey and I am looking forward to working with LDM more in the future. Before I joined LDM, I found it difficult to find opportunities in sport, however when I went to college (Leeds City College) and was provided that extra support to get work experience with LDM, it was really helpful and I am looking forward to the experience. In the future my aim is to support more young people with disabilities in getting into sports like basketball, I am excited for the future!’
